A PERSONAL APPROACH TO PREVENTION

Your routine should fit your needs.

There is no single schedule or treatment plan that fits every patient. Your preventive care may look different depending on your oral-health history, gum health, risk factors, and the changes we see over time.

Our team takes time to evaluate what is happening now, explain what we see, and recommend practical next steps that support a healthy smile between visits.

FOUNDATIONAL CARE

The essentials of a healthy smile.

Preventive visits give us an opportunity to monitor your oral health, address concerns early, and help you feel confident about caring for your smile at home.

01

Exams and assessments

Regular exams help us evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health, then identify changes that may need attention.

02

Professional hygiene care

Hygiene visits remove buildup that brushing and flossing may miss, while supporting gum health and a cleaner, fresher-feeling smile.

03

Digital X-rays and imaging

When appropriate, imaging helps us look beyond what is visible during an exam and plan care with more complete information.

04

Preventive protection

Fluoride and sealants may be recommended for children or adults based on individual cavity-risk and oral-health needs.

PREVENTIVE SERVICES

Learn more about the care that supports your smile.

Recommendations are based on your individual oral health and may change over time. We will explain what we recommend, why it may help, and what to expect at your visit.

A routine dental exam allows us to evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, bite, and surrounding oral structures. We also discuss any changes you have noticed, your goals, and questions about your care.

Digital X-rays may be recommended when they are clinically appropriate. They help us evaluate areas that cannot be fully assessed during a visual exam, including between teeth and below the gumline.

Professional hygiene visits help remove plaque and tartar that can build up over time, including in areas that are difficult to reach at home. Your hygienist will also review home-care habits and discuss ways to support your oral health between visits.

Because gum and bone health can change, some patients may need a different level of hygiene care or a more frequent maintenance schedule. If we see signs of gingivitis or periodontal disease, we will explain what that means and discuss appropriate next steps.

Fluoride can help strengthen tooth enamel and may be recommended for children, teens, or adults who have an elevated risk of tooth decay. It may be provided as an in-office treatment or recommended as part of an at-home routine, depending on your needs.

Your dentist or hygienist can help you understand whether fluoride may be beneficial for you or your child.

Dental sealants are thin protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where grooves can make thorough cleaning more difficult. They are commonly considered for children and teens, though they may be appropriate for other patients based on individual risk.

Applying a sealant does not typically require drilling or removal of healthy tooth structure. Sealants should be checked during regular visits and may need repair or replacement over time.

Healthy gums are an important part of a healthy smile. During preventive visits, we monitor the tissues around your teeth and look for signs of inflammation, recession, or changes that may require closer attention.

If additional care is recommended, we will explain your findings, discuss available options, and help you understand how the plan supports your long-term oral health.
